Summer’s hottest foodie fest is here this Saturday: the 19thannual Taste of Georgetown will bring creative cuisine, refreshing libations, live entertainment and even a “Top Chef” sighting to Georgetown on Saturday, June 2, 2012 from 11am-4pm. The only opportunity to taste one’s way through Georgetown in an afternoon, Taste of Georgetown will offer tastes from 30 of the neighborhood’s best restaurants,refreshments from the lively Wine & Ale Tasting Pavilion, live music and more foodie fun. Tuesday, June 5:

Unibroue Beer Dinner at The Light Horse Restaurant (715 King St. Alexandria, VA): Enjoy a delicious 5-course beer dinner featuring pairings with the French Canadian brewery Unibroue, known for their outstanding, elegant Belgians and abbeys. You won’t start of with their flagship, Fin du Monde, (French for The End of the World), the full bodied brew which has earned more medals and awards, including some of the world’s highest honors, than any other Canadian beer, but you’ll get there. For just $55 per person (not including tax and gratuity), enjoy a 5-course dinner prepared by Light Horse executive chef, Adam Stein, each course expertly paired with a fine Unibroue brew. Belmont Celebration at the Light Horse: Stop by The Light Horse Restaurant (715 King St. Alexandria, VA) Saturday, June 9, and the race for the Triple Crown! They will have live music starting right after the race, $5 Belmont Breezes all day long, $4 for any of our Belgian Trippels and $4 Crown Royal drinks. Order a “Triple Crown” and get any Trippel and a shot of Crown for $6. If you can’t be there, this is the next best thing! Don’t miss it!

Saturday to Brunch at Cedar. Located in the heart of Penn Quarter, Cedar (822 E St., NW) is a contemporary, rustic American restaurant specializing in wild game where Executive Chef Aaron McCloud artfully prepares well-executed dishes that will blow you away. Market Fresh Brunch at Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran Art Gallery: Local Chef Todd Gray’s expertly curated menu has been designed exclusively for the Corcoran. Taking inspiration from the Corcoran Collection and the Gallery’s special exhibitions, and distinguished by seasonal, local ingredients—many sourced from the nearby FreshFarm Market, by the White House—Muse is a unique culinary experience. Gospel Sunday Brunch at The Hamilton (600 14th Street, NW), a landmark building that was originally constructed in 1929 and operated as the flagship store for Garfinckel’s department store until 1990, is now offering a Southern-inspired buffet guaranteed to lift one’s spirits, while enjoying a live gospel show to feed the soul. Available every Sunday, priced all inclusively at $25 per person, two ticketed shows are offered, with doors opening at 10 AM for the first one-hour performance which begins at 10:30 AM. The second seating is from 12:30- 2 PM, which also includes an hour-long gospel performance from 1 -2PM. This Sunday, Howard Gospel Choir will perform at The Hamilton Live for Gospel Brunch.

Guests begin their brunch with a complimentary Mimosa or Bloody Mary, plus coffee, tea and juice are also included, as are tempting pastries created by The Hamilton’s Pastry Chef Lauren Petri. From now until June 30th, diners can enjoy Test Kitchen: Hanoi-Havana, a special menu that was created to blend two incredibly diverse countries (and cultures) Vietnam and Cuba – allowing diners to embark on a journey of taste to enjoy the flavors of two places at once. Every few months, the Chefs at ZENGO research and develop new recipes featuring the cuisine and spirits of one Latin and one Asian country; the result is a menu of specialty small plates and cocktails that showcase flavors and techniques from each region. Sip Your Way to The RAMMYS with RAMW’s Month-long Cocktail Promotion: From May 18 to June 18, “Beverage/Mixology Program of the Year” RAMMY nominees will host a month-long cocktail promotion where consumers can come into nominated restaurants and order their signature RAMMY cocktail for a chance to win two tickets to the annual gala on June 24. The five nominees for “Beverage/Mixology Program of the Year” are Bourbon Steak, ChurchKey, EatGoodFood Group, Estadio and Room 11. The nominees will be serving up the following creative cocktails at their restaurants. Diners who purchase a RAMMY cocktail at any of the five restaurants until June 18 will be eligible to win two tickets to the RAMMY gala on June 24. Upcoming Events: Save the Date!

From June 13th -17th 2012, Et Voila! will celebrate the legendary beer culture of Belgium with beer-infused food, tasting flights and brew samplings at the 2nd Annual Belgian Beer Festival. The five-day festival will offer beer lovers a multitude of ways to sip, taste, explore and enjoy the rich, unique flavors of Belgian brews including happy hours, daily beer flights and special dishes. The 22nd Annual Taste of Reston, Northern Virginia’s largest outdoor food festival, produced by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, will take place Friday, June 15 and Saturday, June 16 on Market Street at the Reston Town Center. This year’s event marking their 22nd year celebration, will feature more than 30 area restaurants, a full line-up of musical entertainment, a kid’s activity tent, and for the first time this year, a chef’s demonstration stage. Best of all, admission to Taste of Reston is FREE, but Taste Tickets and Carnival Tickets are necessary to sample food or take a spin on your favorite ride. Safeway Barbecue Battle 20th Anniversary “A Celebration for the Nation”

The Safeway Barbecue Battle: June 23-24, 2012 This year will mark the 20th Anniversary of Safeway bringing great food, live music, and fun to the streets and people of the Nation’s Capital. The two-day festival (Saturday: 11 AM to 9:00 PM; Sunday: 11 AM to 7:30 PM) includes delicious barbecue and tasty treats of all kinds from top vendors, plenty of delicious free food samples and live entertainment including 30 bands on multiple stages all surrounding one of the nation’s top barbecue cooking competitions.
