Fleming’s Steakhouse & Wine Bar Annual Memorial Day wine dinner: Fleming’s Steakhouse & Wine Bar (1960 Chain Bridge Road, McLean, VA) is kicking off Memorial Day Weekend with a celebration of food and wine, including a four-course wine dinner menu from Chef Jackie Trujillo. Sunset Celebration at Mount Vernon: This family-friendly event (May 25-27) celebrates the beginning of summer on the plantation as historic Mount Vernon invites visitors to experience a rare opportunity to linger after the daytime crowds have departed. Tour the Mansion, relax and enjoy wine and desserts available for purchase and delight in 18th-century music, dancing, games, and wagon rides. Saturday to Brunch at Cedar. Grilling & Wine Tasting at The Butcher’s Block: Join Danielle Vogel from 1-4 p.m. for a special tasting to kick off the grilling season. Market Fresh Brunch at Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran Art Gallery: Local Chef Todd Gray’s expertly curated menu has been designed exclusively for the Corcoran. Taking inspiration from the Corcoran Collection and the Gallery’s special exhibitions, and distinguished by seasonal, local ingredients–many sourced from the nearby FreshFarm Market, by the White House–Muse is a unique culinary experience. Gospel Sunday Brunch at The Hamilton (600 14th Street, NW), a landmark building that was originally constructed in 1929 and operated as the flagship store for Garfinckel’s department store until 1990, is now offering a Southern-inspired buffet guaranteed to lift one’s spirits, while enjoying a live gospel show to feed the soul. Available every Sunday, priced all inclusively at $25 per person, two ticketed shows are offered, with doors opening at 10 AM for the first one-hour performance which begins at 10:30 AM. The second seating is from 12:30- 2 PM, which also includes an hour-long gospel performance from 1 -2PM. This Sunday, Howard Gospel Choir will perform at The Hamilton Live for Gospel Brunch.
Guests begin their brunch with a complimentary Mimosa or Bloody Mary, plus coffee, tea and juice are also included, as are tempting pastries created by The Hamilton’s Pastry Chef Lauren Petri. Adult Swim Pool Party Series Official Grand Opening Memorial Day Weekend:
Adult Swim is a weekly summer pool party held every Sunday at the Capitol Skyline Hotel (10 I Street, SW, DC), hosted by Liquid Lifestyle. These Vegas-style pool parties feature the best local DJs, celebrity appearances, fashion shows, live musicians, costumed dancers and surprise entertainment. The series Grand Opener on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday, May 27th, is open to the public and will kick-off DC’s most anticipated pool party series. And if a massive pool, dance music and bottle popping isn’t enough, the party also features an all-day barbecue with burgers and hot dogs, blow-up pool toys and 6 bars throughout the venue. The party runs from 12-6pm, with free admission until 1pm with a text RSVP. To RSVP, patrons must text their full names to 202-RESERVE, and will in-turn receive a confirmation text to show at the door. After 1PM or without a text RSVP, cover charge is $20 at the door. Memorial Day Oystravaganza at 3: The grills (and a whole lot of oysters) are coming out on Clarendon’s best outdoor patio at 3′s Oystravaganza from 5-9 p.m this Sunday. Kicking off summer by offering the best of the Chesapeake Bay and Rappahannock River with specials on local Maryland and Virginia oysters in 14 different forms including shooters, on the half shell, sliders, Rockefeller and stews. Known as the “house that bacon built”, Executive Chef Brian Robinson is using his favorite meaty ingredient in dishes like the Oysters Rockefeller with House Cured Bacon and Spinach, and even the fresh Oysters on the Half Shell with house made Bacon Jam. From now until June 30th, diners can enjoy Test Kitchen: Hanoi-Havana, a special menu that was created to blend two incredibly diverse countries (and cultures) Vietnam and Cuba – allowing diners to embark on a journey of taste to enjoy the flavors of two places at once. Sip Your Way to The RAMMYS with RAMW’s Month-long Cocktail Promotion: From May 18 to June 18, “Beverage/Mixology Program of the Year” RAMMY nominees will host a month-long cocktail promotion where consumers can come into nominated restaurants and order their signature RAMMY cocktail for a chance to win two tickets to the annual gala on June 24. The five nominees for “Beverage/Mixology Program of the Year” are Bourbon Steak, ChurchKey, EatGoodFood Group, Estadio and Room 11. The nominees will be serving up the following creative cocktails at their restaurants. Diners who purchase a RAMMY cocktail at any of the five restaurants until June 18 will be eligible to win two tickets to the RAMMY gala on June 24. Upcoming Events: Save the Date!
June 5: 2nd Tuesdays: Cork Market Whole Animal Grill-Out series, which’ll be held in the dining room above the shop on the second Tuesday of every month, and deliciously prepare everything from goat, to lamb, to king salmon. Chef Rob Weland will serve each whole roasted animal family-style with an array of sides, including mac ’n’ cheese, baked local apples, and house-made sauerkraut. Cork’s Whole Animal Grill-Out roasts will range from $50-$75 per person, with an additional $25 per person for optional wine pairings. The Safeway Barbecue Battle: June 23-24, 2012 This year will mark the 20th Anniversary of Safeway bringing great food, live music, and fun to the streets and people of the Nation’s Capital. The two-day festival (Saturday: 11 AM to 9:00 PM; Sunday: 11 AM to 7:30 PM) includes delicious barbecue and tasty treats of all kinds from top vendors, plenty of delicious free food samples and live entertainment including 30 bands on multiple stages all surrounding one of the nation’s top barbecue cooking competitions.
