Ticket Giveaway to Soundbites: Food + Music + Charity
DC Central Kitchen and the 9:30 Club will host the 3rd Annual Sound Bites charity concert featuring food you crave and music that you love with proceeds benefiting DCCK, a national leader for combating hunger and creating opportunities for individuals in need. The event will be held at the 9:30 Club (815 V St., NW). Comment below to enter to Win Two (2) Tickets to Soundbites, this Sunday, May 20, 2012 (at 5 p.m.)
Samy K from 99.5 will be hosting their first Mixology Madness Competition with master mixologists Brendan Murphy (The Gibson), Owen Thompson (Oyamel), Arris Noble (Fujimar), and Derek Brown (The Passenger). The Mixologists will be judged by Svetlana Legetic (Brightest Young Things), Spike Mendelsohn (Good Stuff Eatery), Gina Chersevani (Master Mixologist), and Todd Thrasher (Master Mixologist).
Participating restaurants and eateries that will be serving their culinary creations at this year’s Sound Bites include: Borinquen, Black Salt, Bobby Vans Grill, Chipotle, Cork, Delia’s, Dolce Gelati, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, Harry’s Smokehouse, Indique, Jackie’s, Mandu, Matchbox, Mie N Yu, Pepe (food truck), P.J. Clarks, Policy, Rappahannock Oysters, Room 11, Shake Shack, Sixth Engine, and Taylor Gourmet (if they’re not too busy after POTUS’s visit!)
Music at this year’s event is curated by Eric Hilton of the Thievery Corporation, including Bone, Fur Feathers, The Archives, and Nappy Riddem, with a DJ Set by Eric Hilton. There will also be a cocktail competition involving three of DC’s hottest mixologists from Oyamel,The Passenger, Fujimar, and The Gibson. And of course, food from the area’s favorite food trucks including Pepe and Borinquen, as well other beloved restaurants.

The first SoundBites was such a rewarding experience – talking personally to the chef-owners about their food, menu and concepts as they serve it to you is like having your own private tasting – but better yet, shared with a community of foodies who support the DC Central Kitchen and appreciate local musicians. This event is not to be missed!
