Bistrot Lepic is more than your neighborhood French Bistro, its a glimpse into Paris
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar, the neighborhood French bistro located at 1736 Wisconsin Avenue in Glover Park. It was my first experience dining there but I was very impressed with its charming, quaint, and romantic atmosphere. The authentic Parisian food is honest and well-priced. The service is friendly and hospitable. Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar will celebrate its 15th anniversary in April 2010 with special promotions scheduled throughout the entire month. To honor this milestone anniversary, the restaurant will feature a rotating list of 15 important French wines rarely ever seen by-the-glass. Available during lunch and dinner service, highlights include 2007 Vouvray les Fosses d’Hareng; 2008 Bergerac Blanc sec, Chateau Renaudie; 2006 Cotes du Rhone Les Argiles Rouge, La Bastide Saint Dominique; 2006 Pic Saint Loup Ermitage; 2005 Haut Medoc, Reflet du Chateau de Cissac. Furthermore, a bottle of Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Champagne will also be poured at an affordable $15. This special offering represents a 66 percent savings and is available during lunch service in the main dining room and during the evening happy hour in the upstairs Wine Bar, Wednesday-Monday from 5:30 to 7 PM. The 20-seat Wine Bar, a welcome addition to Bistrot Lepic in 2002, is an inviting gathering place. It has a contemporary French-Asian atmosphere with wine racks, cork flooring and cube tables with coconut shell inlay.
Always sensitive to the lunchtime crunch, Cameroon-born Executive Chef Simon Ndjiki-Nya’s will also offer a daily lunch menu specially priced at $15, which includes a glass of wine. This new menu option also ensures a prompt and delicious midday meal and it will change daily. Some tempting examples include Duck Confit Salad; Cod Brandade au Gratin; Salmon Papillote with spring vegetables; Grilled Hanger Steak served with shallot sauce; Braised Beef Cheeks served with purple potato au gratin as well as Grilled Shrimp Skewers served with ratatouille and lemon sauce.
Patrons will also look forward to the return of Chef/Owner Bruno Fortin, as he opened this classic French bistro in 1995. Guests regularly remark how happy they are that Fortin brought a bit of authentic Paris to Georgetown, and that Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar is their favorite French restaurant in Washington. Bruno will be in Washington to cook alongside Chef Ndjiki-Nya throughout the anniversary month of April celebrating the restaurant’s 15 years as a neighborhood landmark bistro.
